Florence’s Piazza dell’Indipendenza is a hot spot for gatherings, large groups of people can be found here from Fridays through to Sunday. Having long lunches that proceed well into the evening. Drinking wine from plastic cups and food served from plastic containers. It is quite the family affair.
The gathering that catches my eye everyday however is a different sort of gathering, it is the statue in the middle of the piazza, not the main part of the statue – Ubaldino Peruzzi, the first mayor of Florence – but more-so the impressive plaque on the base.
