Arriving in Camogli by train you encounter her at first as a somewhat non-descript Italian town. But as you descend into her streets, down to her heart, her quaint charm rises up to meet you.
At first it’s merely glimpses of the sea, between buildings. It seems so faraway, way down the cliff at sea level.
But a casual stroll that seems to weave back and forth across the steep cliff reveals the wonder of the Ligurian coast is not too far.
Your efforts will be repaid when you reach the bottom – a fishing village, a spectacular promenade and relaxed beach front await you.
It’s the off season in February so it’s quiet and peaceful – perhaps not so in the height of summer. But there are ample places open and the calm of the sea is non-stop.
