Bumper challenge: a hodgepodge of bridges

I’ve been off the radar for a few weeks now  and missed a few photo challenges so this one’s going to kill 2, no 3 birds with one stone!

There’re are so many bridges in the world, so what better subject to use for my collage challenge – while also including bridges.

Bridges can also be used for my delta challenge – after all aren’t bridges the perfect representation of transition. Both the bridges themselves and also the ideas that they represent.

Shibuya: A frequent migration

The orderly chaos of Tokyo can be witnessed here at the famous Shibuya crossing. Intermittently this huge intersection – empty of people – filled with only passing traffic is transformed into a sea of orderly, fast-paced pedestrians.

It really is amazing to witness, something that just works against all odds. The movement of the people highlights the transient nature of such a place, nobody is here to stay – only here to wait until the next light sequence permits an escape.

Too many focal points can lead to confusion

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve taken part in the WordPress photo challenge, I’ve been both busy and travelling.

This week I return with a renewed focus, but with a picture from my home in Florence. Our grand door in all of its glory – both in and out of focus. A perfect representation of my time in Florence. The door always open.

Quelle surprise: Accommodation choice on point

Sometimes when you arrive at a destination in the dark of night you don’t realise just where you are, sometimes you don’t look in the right direction and miss it altogether.

This happened to me once when following the LA Lakers up the east coast of the States, we checked into highway motel in the middle of the night in New Jersey only to wake in the morning to find ourselves in the shadow of Manhattan. Hindsight says just stay in Manhattan and commute to the basketball game, better than a highway motel.

In this instance though we arrived in Rome, always facing away from the marvel that awaited me as I opened the shutters at dawn the next morning – of course I was suffering with jet lag and an awfully early wake up. What a wonderful surprise, to find this view though to compensate for the heavy head.
