Against the odds in Kuala Lumpur

It seems there is an incredibly long line of enthusiastic tourists always keen to make it to the top of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur.  Despite mine and my favourite travel companion’s enthusiasm it was not enough to beat the odds. We missed out on our chance to experience KL’s view from atop the Petronas Towers.

My key advice is you need to be keener than keen to beat the odds. And if you can’t be keener than keen maybe nominate one person in your travel group to stay up all night! Otherwise you too may miss the trip up the Petronas Towers.

As a consolation prize though there is always the KL tower. And with this tower your KL skyline includes the iconic Petronas Towers.

Koh Klang: An ambience of tranquility

Far from the rush of modern life I found myself immersed in the tranquil ambience of isolation. Koh Klang only a stones through from Thailand’s Krabi, but a million miles from its hectic tourist culture.

Angkor Wat in Bangkok

Visiting the palace in Bangkok I unexpectedly stumbled across this truly remarkable miniature model of Siem Reap’s Angkor Wat. Every tiny attention to detail was amazing, without perspective you could imagine that this could have been the real Angkor Wat in all of its glory.

A framing column

Angkor Wat is a masterpiece from any angle with so much detail it can be difficult to decide what to focus on. In this shot the columns stole the show when they framed the shot.
